Accounting Associate (Temporary Project)

Location: Remote (Lake Zurich, IL)
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–4:30pm (30 minute lunch break)
Pay: $20/hr–$21/hr
Duration: Approximately 3–4 months or until project is completed

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Accounting Associate to support a special accounting reconciliation project. This temporary assignment will focus on researching and resolving significant account discrepancies for a key customer account. The ideal candidate will possess reconciliation, audit, and investigative skills and enjoy problem-solving in a project-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

• Research and investigate accounting discrepancies, including calling, emailing, and independently researching.
• Review historical financial records and transactions.
• Reconcile account balances and identify variances.
• Audit existing accounting documentation and activity.
• Analyze large volumes of financial data for accuracy.
• Identify missing, duplicate, or incorrect entries.
• Document findings and communicate issues to management.
• Support corrective actions and resolution efforts.
• Work collaboratively with the accounting manager and accounting team taking corrective actions on discrepancies.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of accounting experience.
• Accounting Associate, Accounting Assistant, Auditor, Data Entry, Bookkeeping, or related experience preferred.
• Reconciliation and audit experience required.
• Experience supporting month-end or year-end accounting activities.
• Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with Sage preferred.

Education:

• High school diploma required.
